At the exhibition “Playground”, her third exhibition in the Ravne Gallery, Maja Pučl, a native of Ravne, presents her works from two periods – before and after motherhood. The first part, entitled “Traces/Tracks”, is comprised of paintings of the four seasons, which offer an account of the period of pregnancy. The paintings from the second part, entitled “Playground”, which show a return of playfulness onto the canvas, were created after the birth of her son. Maja Pučl does not create only with colours and pigments, but also with yarn, nails and collages. In her works, the painter has completely abandoned the depictions of visible reality. Instead, visual silence and seemingly disorganized structures enable the viewer to have different interpretations.

MAJA PUČL (Slovenj Gradec, 1978) studied graphic design at the Secondary School for Design and Photography in Ljubljana. She completed her BA in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2005 and her MA in 2010. In 2001 and 2002, she was an exchange student at the University of Fine Arts and Design in Helsinki. Since 2009, she has been self-employed as a culture worker. She is active in the fields of painting, graphics, design, restoration, education, ambient installations, calligraphy and body painting. She lives and works in Ljubljana.
