Photographs

Photographs represent a minor part of the Museum’s collection and are mostly donations by photographers who had exhibited their works in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška in the past. The photographic works from the collection were created at the end of the 20th and beginning of 21st century and represented the artists’ current production at the time they were acquired. A specific part within the Museum’s collection are photographic cycles by individual photographers, related distinctive motifs. George Graciansky was awarded the Jury’s First Prize for his cycle of photographs at the exhibition Artist and the Urban Environment in 1997. Besides his works, the collection includes individual works or entire series by Stojan Kerbler, Tomo Jeseničnik, Tihomir Pinter, Dragiša Modrinjak, Maja Šivec, Stane Jeršič, Herman Pivk, Roberto Kusterle, Inge Morath and others. In accordance with our capacities and collection policy, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška collection of photographs is also complemented with the works of Carinthian photographers of the younger generation, such as Aljaž Velički and Tadej Vaukman.
