Sculptures
The collection of sculptures in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška (KGLU) contains 143 works, which were mostly included in the collection in a similar way as paintings, after the end of large international exhibitions. Special attention is given to works by local sculptors and sculptresses (Rade Nikolić, Andrej Grošelj, Naca Rojnik), and there are also two comprehensive collection units, the first one composed of works by Franc Berneker, the pioneer of Slovenian modern sculpture and a contemporary of the Slovenian Impressionists. Most of the bronze works were acquired by the KGLU after the great monographic exhibition of the artist’s works in 2001 and through later purchases from private collections. The second unit is a series of sculpture drafts (the so-called bozzetti) for the memorial to Jože Tisnikar, made in baked clay by Mirsad Begić. There is another special unit, the international collection containing 53 ceramic works, which were added to the fundus of the KGLU by agreement with the organizers of the I. and II. International Ceramics Triennial Unicum in 2009 and 2012 in Ljubljana and Maribor.
