The art contest “Koroška, Who are You?”, which was organized for the third consecutive year by the Carinthian Students Club (KKŠ) in cooperation with the Kompleks Youth Culture Centre (KMKC) and the Ravne Gallery, took place between 1 March and 10 April 2021. The purpose of the contest is to provide young artists from the Koroška region with an opportunity, to present their work to the general public.
The jury, composed of Anastazija Pirnat, last year’s winner, Jernej Kožar, representative of the Ravne Gallery, and Anže Šumah, representative of the Carinthian Students Club, met on Thursday, 22 April 2021. The jury examined all the received applications in detail and after careful deliberation unanimously decided that the first prize, a solo exhibition in the Ravne Gallery, should be awarded to Daša Vinšek.
Daša Vinšek (1998) lives in Dravograd and is finishing her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, in the field of Unique Design – Glass and Ceramics. In her works, the jury recognized potential for further artistic development. Members of the jury were especially convinced by her newer works, in which she recreates the general anxieties of everyday life. With great subtlety and feeling, she exhibited the most mature artistic expression and convinced the jury to reward her with the first prize – a solo exhibition at the Ravne Gallery in 2022.
Daša Vinšek says about her works: “My works are feelings and experience, poured into matter; they are me. In their core, there is a constant desire to explore my inner expanses and a creative desire. Precision and deliberation in the search for authenticity of true form guides me to glass, ceramics and other materials.”
We would like to sincerely congratulate the winner!
