NINA STOPAR: MEETING OF THE BODY AS TOUCHING THE MEMORY IN THE PRINT OF COLOUR
>> Opening on Thursday, 2 June 2022, at 6 PM.
>> Curator: Jernej Kožar
At her exhibition in the Ravne Gallery, Nina Stopar will present her latest works. These are large format paintings that she creates using her body, her hands and feet. At the end of the creative process, she completes the paintings to create colourful and multi-layered assemblages.
Alongside these paintings, smaller works on paper will also be exhibited, which are created in the customary painting style as opposed to the larger works.
The exhibition will have a multi-media character, as it is accompanied by a video recording, through which the visitors will be able to see the artist’s creative practice. Besides the paintings, the visitors will also be able to read her love poetry, which Nina Stopar will present at a special performance during the exhibition.
Nina Stopar is a philosopher and Slavicist. After a decade of teaching Slovenian at a high school, she decided to pursue her solo painting career. She obtained her master’s degree in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, completing her education by working in a gallery in London for seven months in 2020. She lives and works in Ljubljana and Žerjav.
