STANISLAV MAKUC: THE TOWER OF BABEL
Exhibition of paintings, collages and drawings
>> Guided tours of the exhibition on Thursday, 15 October 2020, at 5.00, 5.30 and 6.00 p.m.
>> Curator: Jernej Kožar
At his overview exhibition in the Ravne Gallery, Stanislav Makuc will present paintings, drawings, and collages that he created in the past four years.
The first part of the exhibition will display the works from the cycle “On the Tailings”. In these paintings, the artist depicts trees that had been buried under mine tailings for several decades. The second part of the exhibition will display his cycle of eighteen collages on paper. These small-format works were created in 2019 and they differ strongly in terms of painting style from the aforementioned works.
The pinnacle of the overview exhibition of Stanislav Makuc’s paintings are his newest works, which were created this year. The seven paintings were made using acrylic paint on paper. They are different from his older works in their unified colour composition, in which dulled earth tones and the lack of anything mimetic prevail.
Stanislav Makuc (1954) lives and works in Mežica. He graduated in painting in 2014 under the mentorship of dr. Jožef Muhovič and prof. Zmago Lenárdič, then completed his master’s studies of painting with mentors dr. Tomislav Vignjević and prof. Bojan Gorenc.
