Tina Dobrajc introduces new perspectives and approaches into Slovenian painting. Symbols from popular culture can be recognized in her paintings, mixed with traditional ethnological attributes. Just as her way of painting is a combination of a central perspective with the flatness of abstraction, she also combines, on the level of content, icons from popular culture with those that are proverbially Slovenian.
Her work is embedded into the long tradition of Upper Carniolan as well as broader Slovenian painting through the Šubic brothers, Ivan Grohar and Marko Jakše. Her paintings are metaphors for the inner monologues of the homo sapiens slovenicus, they are the mental landscapes of the inner world of the generalized and generic type of Slovenian being that is haunted by anxiety and desires that have been repressed for too long.

The opening of the exhibition is part of the event Culture Beach. Before the opening, guided tours of the exhibition will take place between 2 PM and 5 PM.
