ALOJZ KRIVOGRAD Jr., aka FUTY
Alojz Krivograd – Futy (1964–1992) was a Slovenian photojournalist. After he finished grammar school in Ravne na Koroškem, he studied journalism, but he did not complete his studies. Early on, he showed interest in photography, he first worked as a photographer for the student magazine Tribuna and later for Mladina. In 1988 and 1989, he worked in Pristina in Kosovo, and when the war started in 1991, he followed the events in Croatia and Bosnia. His footage from war zones in the Balkans was published by prominent international newspapers (Newsweek, Stern, Observer, Time, Globus …). After he was captured by Serbian paramilitary forces in Foča in Bosnia, he went missing without a trace. In 2009, a mass grave was found near Foča – the Piljak cave, which is presumably where the photographer ended up as well.
