ANDREJ GROŠELJ

Andrej Grošelj was born in 1947 in the village of Leše. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1972 under the mentorship of prof. Slavko Tihec. He received the Student Prešern Award in 1970. In 1972, he was employed at the elementary school in Prevalje as an Arts teacher, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He had 29 solo exhibitions. In 1996, he had a large retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška. He participated in 59 group exhibitions and 6 symposia in various places in Slovenia and abroad. He received the Great Prežihov Voranc award from the Municipality of Ravne na Koroškem for his creative and educational work. Since 2015, his studio in Dobja vas has been open for the public to visit. He died in 2011.
