STOJAN KERBLER

Stojan Kerbler (1938, Ptujska Gora) is one of the central personalities in Slovenian photography. He started working with photography in 1953 at the Photo Club Ptuj. During his studies in Ljubljana, he founded the student photo club ŠOLT with his friends. After graduating in 1965, he was a member of the Photo Club Maribor and of the avant-garde photographic group the Maribor Circle (1971–1974). In his extensive creative oeuvre, several cycles stand out, above all Haložani (The people of Haloze) and Koline (the Slaughter), in which he developed his recognizable personal style. He received many awards for his work in the field of photography, most recently the Prešeren Award for life achievements in 2020. He lives and works in Ptuj and Ptujska Gora.
