Romero participated in the exhibition Peace, Humanity and Friendship among Nations (1967) with prints from a graphic edition of his, published in collaboration with Universidad Mayor de San Francisco Xavier. Pueblo al viento (People in the wind), 1958, consists of six sheets depicting the conditions of rural life in Bolivia. However, Romero was not only concerned with what was shown, but – as he wrote in his introductory note – also experimented with new techniques and integrated new elements into the graphic arts. In this case he combined cement with wood, a decision driven solely (by the author’s own admission) by “the desire of the artist”. His interest in communicating and spreading information beyond the realm of art saw him merge and develop social issues with artistic experiments and aesthetic concerns.
